I am not believing this! My FIRST blogger award EVER! Girl Gone Wild has chosen me as a Rockin Girl Blogger. I am deeply humbled and would like to thank all the little people that helped me get to this point in my blogging status…um…my kids — Abby, AJ and Katie.
But seriously. When I was in high school, Bon Jovi was all the rage and of course, like any other girl my age with any sense, I bought every CD available and even drove 5 hours to Anchorage to see them in concert. I’ll never forget a group of us took that trip the summer of our Senior year in high school and all the way up to the concert, we blasted the music and sang all the lyrics to the songs. It was quite the time in my life…I was soooo cool. (Hang in there, I’m actually going somewhere with this) I was very involved in Choir and Drama as were a few of my friends that were along for the ride — and it wasn’t until after about the third round of “Shot through the heart and you’re to blame” that my friend (and also the driver) Rick turned off the radio and pulled the car over. He looked over at me and asked me to sing that again for him. Thinking I was really hot, I gave it my all and started in with the first verse and when I got to the chorus, he held up his hand and shaking his head said, “I knew it was you!” I stopped in surprise and asked what he meant by that. To which he replied, “Karen…this is rock, not opera. You can’t sing it “Sho-hoooot thrrrrough the-he hea-aarrt ahnd yore-hore to-hoo blaaaaaaame….dahling, you give looo-hoh-hove a bahd name.”
Talk about a shot through the heart…I never sang rock again. Dahling.
I don’t know how many, if any, other rockin’ girl bloggers I’m supposed to nominate for this lovely gem, but I’ll name a couple anyway:
Rachel at Memories of Mine to Thine…her blog is so artistic and inspiring to me.
FlipFlop Mamma…as she says, “A little flip, a little flop and a whole lotta mama.”
Mel at Actual Unretouched Photo…it’s like she’s reading my mind. Her posts are insightful and funny.
